MATRYOSHKA "Nesting Dolls" 

Matryoshkas, or ‘nesting dolls’ are traditional dolls from Russia that can be stacked inside each other. They are often beautifully and intricately painted and make gorgeous gifts and household decorations. In this this week-long workshop, each student will be able to paint their own matryoshka using traditional designs and techniques. Students will receive a set of five wooden matryoshka dolls to paint and take home. Instructor Kathryn Durst will be guiding students through the design and painting process. Participants will be shown traditional and modern examples of the matryoshka for reference. Materials will be provided but students are welcome to bring their own visual inspirational material.
