Siarhei Douhushau is a musician, singer, ethnographer, teacher, and a cultural project manager hailing from Belarus, and recently emigrated to the USA. He graduated from the Belarusian State Academy of Music with a degree in Singing and was a lead singer at the Belarusian State Philharmonia. He has created many Belarusian children's and author's programs.
Douhushau is actively involved in creative work both in Belarus and abroad. He is the founder and leader of Vuraj, an ethno-band focusing on promoting authentic Belarusian folklore and its popularization through original pieces. During its 10 years, the band has recorded five studio albums and participated in many European festivals.
In 2013, Dolhushau created a public project titled “Speuny Schod” (“Singing Assembly”), aimed at uniting people through Belarusian songs. Speuny Shod is organized as an independent thematic event and as part of large-scale music festivals and events. The initiative has been uniting hundreds of people interested in Belarusian music for four years now.
"Tradycyja" is another important platform for Douhushau’s cultural and educational activities, the purpose of which is the development and promotion of traditional Belarusian culture. As part of this project, a series of books, CDs of authentic ethnic Belarusian music were published, many concerts and master classes with folk traditions were organized.
Syarzhuk Douhushau is the author of the vocal course "Natural Voice" which he offers to guide people in feeling and finding their natural voice, and understanding the basics of vocal and sound techniques.
