Valya Galadza

Valya Galadza-Park…

has been steeped in Ukrainian folk art since first making pysanky on her mother's knee as a young child. She now incorporates traditional Ukrainian folk designs and motifs into various media, particularly block printing and ceramic art, as a way to connect with her Ukrainian cultural roots in her adoptive community in rural, francophone Quebec. She works from her studio in a small village on the Saguenay Fjord, where she also draws inspiration from the natural beauty around her (whales, mountains, fish, local plants and trees, and the Quebecois culture).
