Under the guidance of Oksana Pikush, Petrykivka style artist and teacher, you will discover your hidden talent and create a finished work of art with deep meaning. You will paint using special handmade brushes from the town of Petrykivka, Ukraine, provided by the artist. You will also learn about the meaning, cultural significance and health benefits of authentic Petrykivka style folk painting, which has become a hallmark of Ukrainian culture around the world after being inscribed by UNESCO onto the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Oksana Pikush was born and raised in the town of Petrykivka, the historical center of this art form and was taught by her parents Andriy Pikush (People's Artist of Ukraine), Maria Pikush, (Merited Master of Folk Art of Ukraine), and Ivan Dmytriuk, Master and teacher of Petrykivka art. She specializes in interior décor (mural paintings) and teaching Petrykivka style art to children and adults. She graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Windsor, ON.

Oksana’s latest interior décor work is a Petrykivka style mural “Lyshtva” at Josyf Cardinal Slipyj Catholic School:
