In connection with their current exhibit “The Spirit of Beads: Sharing our Stories”, Ukrainian Museum of Canada Ontario Branch and Native Canadian Centre of Toronto present a series of virtual beading workshops. Workshop costs include materials, which will be mailed to participants, or can be picked up locally at the Museum in Toronto. Please allow a minimum of 11 days for shipping if you would like your materials delivered. Upon registration, participants will be required to provide a mailing address and kits containing all materials will be sent via Canada Post. Participants will also be required to sign a waiver consenting to a code of conduct, and to be on camera via Zoom. Please note that registration is first come first serve and participants will not be considered fully registered without completing this waiver. The stunning pizzazz comes from the continuous zigzag running around the entire bracelet. The contrast zigzag is set in between contrasting beads. Maria Rypan will show you how easily the zigzag pattern is created by colour placement as you bead along. The motifs are quickly formed as you bead weave vertically up and down. The colour changes keep you on your toes and works up quickly into a bracelet band

Bio: Maria Rypan is a recognized expert in Ukrainian-style beadwork. Her specialties are netting, unique beadweaving and loomweaving techniques. Since 1995 she’s been teaching internationally, produces a kit line and lectures on beading and global folk arts. Her research trips to Ukraine yield fresh material about folk costumes, adornments, and trends. Maria also taught master classes, showed presentations in Ukraine since 2010.
