Kosa Arts: Seeking Sponsors for Folk Camp!

Kosa Arts is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to showcasing, and connecting people with the folk arts, music, and land based traditions of Ukraine & Eastern Europe in the Canadian context.

Our mandate is to bring people closer to the earth and one another through folk art traditions, to build community bonds, preserve heritage traditions, and promote healthy relationships cross-culturally, and intergenerationally. Ultimately, our aim is to help connect people with the land and their roots, for the health of our collective future.

Our biggest event of the year is Folk Camp, held annually in August at the Plast campground near Grafton, Ontario. Over the course of one week, participants of all ages and cultural backgrounds are immersed in traditional song, craft, dance, music, and foodways.

Through workshops, feasts, communal living, music, and more, Folk Camp serves as a vibrant community space for participants to connect and share in collective culture making.

Folk Camp has been the realisation of Kosa Kolektiv’s dream of a village where traditional skills and knowledge could flourish; where people could find connection and empowerment, and where Ukrainian folk arts & culture could thrive.

For eight years now we have been able to offer this camp programming, providing participants from across Ontario and around the world the opportunity to cultivate ancient knowledge and wisdom into a vibrant and spirited living tradition.

Our goal is to continue upon this success, and to make camp as accessible as possible for people of all ages and backgrounds.

To meet this goal, we are looking for sponsors for our camp, specifically to create bursaries for displaced newcomer Ukrainians to attend camp.

With your generous support, we can make this possible!

We offer three levels of sponsorship:

1. Family Membership Sponsorship (parent and child): $1,500

2. Individual Adult Bursary Sponsorship: $1000

3. Individual Child Bursary Sponsorship: $500

Sponsors will be acknowledged on our website, social media accounts, and in our printed camp booklet. Those who sponsor a Family Membership will also be recognized by having the sponsorship named in their honour.

We value any amount of support and can also provide and acknowledge a General Sponsorship at a value of your choice. Your donation, however big or small, directly supports and sustains this meaningful community work.

Now more than ever, it is crucial for us to continue bringing people together to engage in folk learning and community building. Your donation will make it possible for people to attend camp who would not be able to otherwise, to connect with their cultural roots, and with others, in a safe restorative environment.
