Bozena Hrycyna dreamed up Folk Camp with her fellow artist collaborators of the Kosa Kolektiv back in 2014, and hasn't looked back since. She's passionate about community engagement, through ritual, art, and song and the potential for healing through craft and traditional ways of living. She has facilitated many community gatherings since 2010 within the Kosa community and beyond, and been involved in the revitalization of traditional Ukrainian and Eastern European musical traditions, especially Ukrainian women's polyphonic singing. Her professional background is in history, literature, and education, and she has spent many years volunteering as a mentor to youth through Plast and Help Us Help the Children, and working as a teacher within several public school boards. She now resides in the Ottawa Valley.
